"Dìdi (弟弟)" in theaters now
Dìdi (弟弟) takes place in the Bay Area during the summer of 2008 and tells the story of a 13-year-old Taiwanese American boy (Izaac Wang) as he learns how to skate, flirt, and love his mother (Joan Chen). By turns funny and moving, this feature film debut from Academy-award nominated director Sean Wang, takes us on a thrilling ride through the ups and downs of adolescence and chronicles the hardships of being a first-generation immigrant. Dìdi (弟弟) is a recipient of the Dolby Creator Lab Grant, enabling the film to be finished in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Girls Make Beats gets a new studio
Dolby Creator Lab recently helped Girls Make Beats build a Dolby Atmos studio in their LA space and will provide ongoing support for their audio engineering education. Girls Make Beats introduces girls, ages 5-17, to careers as music producers, DJs, and audio engineers by providing courses on industry-leading hardware and software.
Building Beats
Over twenty students from the Building Beats New York chapter joined Dolby Creator Lab at the Audiosmith Recording Studio in The DiMenna Center to learn about and experiment with Dolby Atmos on their own songs. The students also had the opportunity to listen to songs in Dolby Atmos to explore creative choices made by their favorite artists. Building Beats, a Dolby Creator Lab education and Dolby Social Impact partner, offers DJ, music production, and podcasting programs that instill entrepreneurial and leadership skills in New York City and Los Angeles-based underserved youth.

Reaching high schoolers at the Academy Museum
Dolby Creator Lab is a proud sponsor of the Shirley Temple Education Studio at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. We funded donation and installation of equipment and software for an Avid ProTools Dolby Atmos Mix Room & Recording Studio, plus educational programming for high schools.
Dolby Atmos Music Accelerator
Discover the Dolby Atmos Music Accelerator program most recently held September 4 — 8 in Berlin, Germany. In collaboration with SAE Berlin, Genelec, and We Create Music, Dolby professionals and industry experts provided hands-on education, mentorship, and learning resources to assist twenty-five emerging music creatives as they worked together to create new original music in Dolby Atmos. LÉA THE LEOX, a participant in the SXSW 2023 Accelerator, has recently released her new EP, Purpose, in Dolby Atmos. The singer and songwriter used the skills learned from the Dolby Atmos Music Accelerator to deliver an immersive emotional experience to her listeners, taking them through heartbreak, healing, and self-discovery.
Year 2 filmmakers go from filming to post-production
It seems like a long time ago that our four Finish the Script Year 2 filmmakers got the news that they had been chosen to turn Carlos’ opening scene into a short film. And yet here we are! Britney, Kaitlyn, Miguel, and Thomas have all been through pre-production and recently finished shooting their films. Now, with the guidance of a Dolby team of experts they will try their hand at working in post-production with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

Sonic Days at Sonic College
In collaboration with educational and industry partners, Dolby Creator Lab sponsored the second annual Sonic Days on September 13-14. The event featured over 60 sessions on immersive sound design and was aimed at the Nordic audio industry and emerging talent in the region.The conference centered on the latest technologies, trends, and innovative audio perspectives. It featured discussions led by renowned sound designer Peter Albrectsen, and producer and sound engineer, Morton Linberg. The event provided a platform for industry professionals and emerging talents to connect with sound designers from various fields, including TV and film, music, podcasting, game audio, and museum exhibitions.
Dolby Atmos Album Assembler
The Dolby Atmos Album Assembler is an easy-to-use tool for applying the finishing touches to songs and albums mixed in Dolby Atmos. Used in conjunction with the Dolby Atmos Renderer (purchased separately via the Dolby Atmos Production or Mastering Suite), the Album Assembler has been developed from the ground up for mastering Dolby Atmos music. It gives you everything you need to sequence and master your album before delivering it to a streaming service.

Dolby sponsors First Nations Prize at SF3 Festival
In collaboration with the SmartFone FlickFest team, Dolby sponsored a new award category for a First Nations filmmaker who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. This year’s award for best short film went to 17-year-old budding filmmaker Kara Rose for her documentary Eight Minutes Forty Six Seconds.

Dolby Creator Lab Grant film wins prize at Sundance Film Festival 2022
The 2022 recipient of the Dolby Creator Lab Grant, Nanny, written and directed by Nikyatu Jusu, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22nd and was awarded the U.S. Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic. The film has since been acquired by Blumhouse and Prime Video.

Nothing is black and white in Passing
