Connecting meaningfully with our external communities
Dolby employees care about giving back, and Dolby Cares is our program to help them do that. We create and enable giving, volunteering, and learning opportunities for our people to engage as part of their employee experience through global all-employee programs, in partnership with employee networks and business groups, or in local activities led by our Dolby Cares Leaders in each office. We also provide a generous company match of up to $5,000 USD for personal donations to eligible causes and up to $1,000 in for volunteer time to amplify the impact they’re making both inside and outside of work.
Highlights
Coming together around the world
Every year, employees globally take action and volunteer in their local communities during Dolby Cares Month with projects including building out a state-of-the-art media lab, providing meals for food-insecure neighbors, and helping students with their writing skills. The campaign also coincided with Earth Month, and offices around the world spent time cleaning and beautifying their local communities and raising funds for One Tree Planted.
Spreading holiday cheer
Employees celebrate the giving season and get in the holiday spirit by volunteering to support their local communities, including wrapping gifts for Family Giving Tree’s Holiday Wish Drive. To ensure everyone is able to do one good thing during the season, employees globally have the opportunity to make a company-sponsored donation to their favorite organization.
Lending a helping hand
As part of our Advanced Technology Group's first annual global Tech Summit, employees came together and used their engineering skills to build prosthetic hands for amputees in developing countries through Odyssey Team’s Helping Hands program.
Connecting intentionally through our internal communities
Employee Networks (ENs) allow employees to build intentional connections, customized professional development, cultural awareness, and work with Dolby leadership to advance diversity, inclusion, and belonging in our workplace. EN leaders and committees host various events throughout the year including cultural celebrations, book clubs, and mentor programs, often partnering together to highlight intersectionality between groups. Dolby’s 14 ENs focus on various dimensions of gender, racial, and experiential diversity and are open to all employees to participate in regardless of personal identities.
Celebrating Pride
Spectrum, Dolby’s LGBT+ Employee Network celebrates Pride every June. This year, Spectrum hosted a dance class and created signs for seniors marching in the SF Pride Parade. The network supports Openhouse, an organization that provides housing, direct services, and community programs for LGBTQ+ seniors, with annual grants and volunteer support.
Honoring women at Dolby
WE, Dolby’s Women’s Empowerment Network, honors Women’s History Month every March, this year featuring a conversation with a woman in leadership, a panel with women in the music industry, and the impact and reflections of women throughout the company.
Recognizing Hip Hop’s influence
Obsidian, Dolby’s Black Employee Network celebrated the historic global contributions hip hop has had on culture and the industry with a 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop Celebration that featured music, dancers, and a panel conversation in partnership with our Music Partnership and Dolby Institute teams.
